My name is Kimberly Ewing and I began taking Belly Dance
llessons, workshops and doing occasional group and solo
performances in 1998. By day, I work as an Associate
Director and psychologist at Loyola College’s Counseling
Center. I began taking classes at the Towson YMCA with
Piper Hunt. I quickly grew addicted to the movement, the
rhythms and the music and began finding ways to extend
my practice outside of class. After some years, Piper
formed The Daughters of Rhea dance troupe from our class
and we performed under that name in a variety of venues.
While I loved taking classes and performing, I also realized
I had interest in teaching. Piper began helping us with our
teaching skills by developing a certification program for
dancers and teachers. I began with mini-workshops and
then went on to teach at Loyola College’s Fitness and
Aquatics Center. I went from Loyola College to teaching
evening classes at the Towson YMCA. Now, I have the great
fortune to be joining Great Soul Wellness Studio. I am
excited about teaching this wonderful form of dance to
people in this community and beyond. Most importantly to
me, I want those who take the course to become more
appreciative and comfortable with their bodies, become
freer and more confident in their self-expression, feel
stronger and more flexible, and have a lot of fun while doing
it! These are just some of the things Oriental Dance has done
for me and I wish to pass these gifts along to you!
